Thank you to the people of Westoe

Oct 29th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Westoe & Chichester

By now most people will all have heard the results of the Westoe by-election; Allen Branley was once gain elected as the Independent Alliance Councillor for Westoe.

As you will all be aware the Independent Alliance faced a very difficult campaign during which all of the other candidates only attacked Allen and used every possible opportunity to personally abuse him. But despite the might and money of the national parties we were able – with your support – to successfully defended Westoe and once again you have three Independent Alliance councillors working for the people of the area.

Allen gave a commitment to attend all Council meetings as well as continue to do all of the constituency work which is the most important aspect of being a councillor.

Our commitment to the people of Westoe will continue and we pledge to:

  1.  Continue to visit every household to speak to you personally
  2. Put out a newsletter every 2/3 months
  3. Inform you by letter of issues relevant to your own street or estate
  4. Answer every enquiry and attempt to resolve them
  5. Refuse to accept any personal financial rewards as councillors
  6. Question and challenge the decisions taken in the council

Our pledge to you is made regardless of how you voted and rest assured this commitment is to everyone in the ward regardless of their national political allegiances.

Once again we would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and look forward to meeting you and discussing your views and ideas over the coming months.

  1. Your man never deserved to retake his seat and you know it, his majority was slashed and he couldn’t even turn out on election day. He wasn’t expecting to win was he?

You are learning to hoodwink electors to fast after years watching Labour, but most of your members have form being ex Labour types.

  2. Come on then it shouldn’t take all night to moderate when you are sitting there putting new posts on.

  3. Thank goodness for these “ex Labour types” then.

  4. Ray the people of Westoe don’t share your view, they returned Cllr A Branley despite everything the political parties and the local rag could throw at him.

Labour turned out in force and for the first time in an age the South Shields and Jarrow Labour parties put their bickering to one side and did everything the ‘commander in chief’ Iain Malcolm told them to do. Unfortunately for him, he and his lackeys failed.

As for Cllr A Branley not being there on election day perhaps you would like to ask him the reason why yourself? What I can say is that most sane people would have done exactly as he did.

Your theory about not expecting to win is nonsense. After the first canvassing session we knew we would win, the only question was by how many, a majority of one would have done nicely.

It’s a bit like the Olympics, everyone remembers who won gold but very few people remember the wining time – and yes Cllr A Branley won the gold!

Take up your comment about Cllr Khan directly with him.

  5. Congratulations Ahmed on your victory in court this morning.

  6. Congrats Ahmed on what was a forgone conclusion in court today. The police and CPS should be ashamed of themselves for that garbage they took to court. Makes you wonder why some lying toe-rags are selectively supported by the system and for what purpose because it is obviously not for justice.
