Labour’s chosen few!

Earlier this week we revealed the the names of those ‘lucky’ people who have managed to make it onto Labour’s official election panel.

Now we go one step further by predicting who is likely to be standing where and that’s before most constituency parties have held their selection meetings.

SOUTH SHIELDS WARDS:

Jane Carter – No seat
Faye Cunningham – No seat (on standby for Westoe)
Neil Maxwell – Harton
Arthur Meeks – No seat
Doreen Purvis – No seat
Sheila Stephenson – No seat
Bob Watters – West Park
Joyce Welsh – Whitburn & Marsden
Allan West – Westoe
John Wood – Beacon & Bents
Peter Boyack – Will stand down
Bill Brady – Whiteleas
Jim Foreman – Cleadon Park
Eileen Leask – Horsley Hill (but only just ahead of Arthur Meeks)
Joan Meeks – Simonside & Rekendyke
Olive Punchion – Biddick & All Saints

Look out for a last minute announcement from Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tom Piggott who may stand down for health reasons. If this happens expect Joyce Welsh to fill the breach, leaving either Faye Cunningham or Doreen Purvis to battle it out for the vacant Whitburn and Marsden seat.

Joan Atkinson – Cleadon and East Boldon
Terry Fairley - Bede
Richie Porthouse - Hebburn North
Alan Smith – No seat but on standby for Hebburn South
Kenneth Stephenson – No seat but on standby for Hebburn South
Emma Lewell – Primrose
Nancy Maxwell – Hebburn South but will walk if husband Coun. McAtominey is thrown out of the party (currently suspended)
Jim Sewell – Monkton
Alison Strike – Boldon Colliery
